"SKYRIM": CABBAGE POTATO SOUP.
This is a recipe for a creamy, velvety cabbage potato (leek) soup. It's incredibly easy to make, and doesn't take many ingredients! It also looks way more appetizing than that creepy pot of soup in-game.
LOOT: 10-12 SERVINGS
MATS.
3 tbsp butter
3 medium leeks
4 cups cabbage, chopped and rinsed
2 tbsp white wine
6 cups chicken stock
4 medium yukon gold potatoes (about 1 1/2 lbs)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp white pepper
1 cup cream
1 cup buttermilk
1 bunch chives
EQUIPMENT.
large pot
knife
vegetable peeler
immersion blender
fire
kitchen shears
STRAT.
1.) Clean and chop the leeks. If you are unsure on how to clean leeks, here's an instructional video!
2.) In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the leeks and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium low, then add the chopped cabbage and white wine and cook for an additional 20 minutes, stirring and scraping the bottom occasionally - vegetables should be nice and tender.
3.) Peel and chop the potatoes into about 1" pieces. Add the potatoes, chicken stock, salt, and white pepper to the pot. Increase the heat to medium, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are nice and tender. Remove from heat.
4.) Using an immersion blender (or a blender or food processor) blend the mixture in the pot until it is nice and smooth. If you are using a blender or food processor you will have to do this in several batches. Be careful, it will be very hot!
5.) Once blended, stir in the buttermilk and cream. Ladle into bowls and garnish with snipped chives (just take a washed bunch of chives, snip off the dry ends with kitchen shears, then snip small pieces). Enjoy!
