"LEGEND OF ZELDA": GREEN CHU JELLY. (KIWI JAM)

This is a very different and interesting jam recipe. It's very sweet and tart at the same time. Perfectly enjoyable on a buttered English Muffin. May fully restore MP.

LOOT: 2 CUPS

MATS.

2 cups fresh kiwis (about 6 medium)

2 cups sugar

1 tbsp lime juice

drop of green food coloring (I use Wilton "Leaf Green" Icing Color Gel)

EQUIPMENT.

medium saucepan

knife

spatula

potato masher

fire

STRAT.

1.) Slice the kiwis in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Dice the flesh and put into a medium saucepan.

2.) Add the sugar and lime juice to the kiwis and mash with a potato masher until everything is combined and the fruit is relatively smooth with some chunks. Clean off the sides of the pan with a spatula (this is important so you don't burn any excess sugar)

3.) Over a medium flame, bring the kiwi mixture to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and simmer uncovered for about 25 minutes (or until the mixture thickens, you should feel some resistance while stirring), scraping the sides and bottom of the pan with a spatula occasionally to prevent it from burning.

4.) Remove from heat and add 1 drop of green food coloring. Mix until the color is thoroughly distributed. Pour into canning jars (I personally have never canned, but here's a wiki on canning) or pour into tupperware if you plan on eating it quickly. If you choose to put it in tupperware, let it cool until it's room temperature, then cover and place in the fridge.
